What does a SWAN assessment involve?

Educators, HCPs or parents are asked to compare a child’s behaviour in a variety of settings over the past few weeks to other children of the same age and gender on a 7-point scale:

3-Far below, 2-Below, 1-Slightly below, 0-Average, -1-Slightly average, -2-Above, -3-Far above.

They need to answer 18 questions. It includes 9 questions about their child’s inattentive behaviours, for example whether a child “Listens when spoken to directly” and 9 questions about their child’s hyperactive behaviour, for example whether a child “Stays seated (when required)”.

Higher scores indicate greater symptomology.
